In a new advertising campaign undertaken by sportswear giants Nike, Spanish tennis ace Rafael Nadal will feature in it with Real Madrid and Portugal footballer Cristiano Ronaldo. The advertisement, which promotes the new Nike Mercurial Vapor VIII football boots has hit YouTube like a rage with almost a million hits since it was released just a couple of days back. Nadal is currently struggling with a knee injury and even withdrew from the Miami Masters or the Sony Ericsson Open ahead of Semi Final match against world number 4 Andy Murray.
According to reports, the Muscles from Mallorca is currently recuperating back in his home and has been advised by the doctors to not practice for the next two weeks at least. This puts serious doubt over his defense of his French Open crown which will take place next season, and this means that he is likely to miss most of his favorite clay court season, which could make a huge impact in his ATP rankings with Roger Federer breathing down his neck.
But for the moment, Rafael Nadal is taking a break and it seems that he is enjoying himself with the launch of the new Nike advertisement, with whom he has been contracted since his early days in tennis. Nadal is a huge fan of Real Madrid in spite of hailing from Mallorca and owning a 10% share in his local club RCD Mallorca and he used this opportunity to full effect when he got to meet one of his idols in the form of the Portuguese captain.
Rafael Nadal, who is a regular in the home games of Real Madrid at the Santiago Bernabeu, has been presented with a signed Nike Mercurial Vapor VIII by the Portuguese superstar as well, according to the reports received from sources close to the tennis ace.
