Simona Halep clearly destroyed and exploited Svetlana Kuznetsova more so as she was suffering from a thigh injury. Coming to the quarter finals itself was an achievement for Kuznetsova due to her injury. It was her cyclist thigh that did not worked in her favor.
The match was delayed due to rain but Kuznetsova could not find her rhythm back on the court as Halep defeated her in one hour and nineteen minutes in straight sets. The score card read as 6-2, 6-2. Throughout the match Svetlana Kuznetsova looked shaky as she was having problems with her thigh and she even took a medical time out. Her thigh was strapped and it was the same part that is troubling her for past few months. She tried her level best to return the opponent’s serve fiercely but her own serve proved a disaster. To be able to complete and compete in a situation when one is injured requires lot of effort from her part. Practically it was just her one leg that was doing all the work as possible.
Her opponent proved stronger than her as she added injury to the already injured opponent by exploiting her. Kuznetsova lacked the aggression and speed of Halep. It was certainly not the best day for her. Kuznetsova won the French Open title 5 years back. She was also one of the favorites at Rolland Garros but like other top seeds she too fell like a pack of cards along with others. It is just that she should take chances in the upcoming grand slam but for that too she needs to address her injury and pay full attention in its healing procedure and come back strongly after the recovery into Wimbledon 2014.
