Winner: There can be fewer hotter tickets than a men’s Grand Slam final. In this golden age of the sport, spectators are virtually guaranteed a classic match. The Novak Djokovic and Rafael Nadal showdowns in Melbourne and Paris did not disappoint, and another chapter of this high-quality rivalry should be written at Wimbledon.
Djokovic has some tricky early tests, but these should just get him back into the groove on grass he found last year, and I expect him to see off Tomas Berdych and Roger Federer to reach yet another final.
Andy Murray and, perhaps, Jo-Wilfried Tsonga will push Nadal hard, but, like Djokovic, he thrives under the pressure of tight matches. The Spaniard has won three of the most recent clay meetings between the pair, but the world number one, Djokovic, should edge yet another classic at SW19.
Djokovic is the favourite to win at the All England Club. Place a bet online at Bet Victor.
Biggest disappointment: Home fans will be frustrated by another fruitless campaign for Andy Murray, but the biggest disappointment could be Roger Federer. Another loss before the final would prompt fans to confront the serious possibility that the greatest Wimbledon player of all time will not win another title at SW19.
The Swiss legend still looks better than anyone does on grass, but it is doubtful if he can maintain the tempo and consistency to prevail in two heavyweight duels against Djokovic and Nadal.
Honourable mention: Bernard Tomic was the big surprise story, last year, and another big-hitting giant can make an impact this year. John Isner is seeded 11, and a decent run should not be a surprise; he is ideally suited to grass. A potential second round match with Nicolas Mahut looms, but Isner can make sure that he is remembered at Wimbledon for something other than that epic 2010 match.
