Rafael Nadal, the Spanish tennis ace who was slated to play in the Mubadala World Tennis Championships that kicks off on the 29th of December and continues till the 31st of December, is uncertain for the tournament, it has been revealed. The Spaniard, who was the top seed in the tournament, has been a winner at Dubai in 2010 and 2011 and he quite enjoys playing here but according to the sources, he is suffering from a viral infection that might knock him out of the tournament even before it begins.
Nadal started to train for the upcoming 2012 calendar year just a few weeks back after his training schedule was delayed by a week due to a troublesome left shoulder that has been bothering him for quite some time. After seeing a doctor in Barcelona, Rafael Nadal began training with his uncle Toni for the upcoming season and it was only after a couple of days that he was struck down by the virus.
According to the reports that have been received, Nadal is extremely weakened at the moment and he cannot even undergo light training and it is almost certain that he will be ruled out of the tournament that he has won twice and been a runner up once. However, Nadal might return to the court on time for a tournament in Doha that begins on the 2nd of January.
Most of the other players who are slated to play in Abu Dhabi/Dubai have already arrived and only Nadal is the only notable absentee. However, Toni Nadal is in favor of Rafael Nadal being present in Abu Dhabi in order to acquaint with the weather that will hold him in good stead ahead of the tournament in Doha, Qatar, which is a tournament of immense importance to some players.
